Even though the MB.02 was officially revealed by Puma just two weeks ago, we're already taking a sneak peek at some of the special colorways still to come. The latest shoe in LaMelo Ball's otherworldly Puma Hoops line-up, it has risen from the ashes in a Puma MB.02 "Phoenix" colorway. Rumored to be exclusive to Chinese markets, make sure you read on to find out everything that we know so far.
In Chinese mythology, phoenixes were used to symbolize honesty and loyalty. According to the ancient legends, the immortal bird acts as a messenger between the Emperor and the heavens above, bringing news of harmony and prosperity. For the MB.02, the engineered mesh upper is dipped in a fiery all-red hue with gold flame-like taping running across the lateral and medial sides. Metallic purple hues decorate the lacing system, and this is complemented by Ball's logo on the insole. A phoenix graphic is printed onto the tongue, superimposed into the Chinese characters for "phoenix," while LaMelo's signature is etched onto the heel of the NITRO foam midsole, placing the finishing touches on the red-hot design.
The Puma MB.02 Phoenix is set to release in late 2022/early 2023 in men's sizes with a retail price yet TBA. As mentioned already, these will be exclusive to China, so expect them to release in Puma China as well as select retailers online and in-store.
