Puma and LaMelo Ball are bringing us another “Galaxy” themed signature sneaker, this time on the Puma MB.02.
Arguably the hottest signature series in the performance basketball category, Puma and LaMelo Ball’s Puma MB series has produced a variety of hit colorways and collaborations in the short time span that we’ve been receiving releases. Tapping into Melo’s out-of-this-world playstyle, the duo released a galactic-themed colorway on the first model, the Puma MB.01, and are set to continue this theme with the new Puma MB.02.
Improving on the hit Puma MB.01, the MB.02 features a slightly redesigned upper that still draws inspiration from the OG design as we get TPU overlays atop the monomesh that resemble phoenix wings. This design comes in a multi-color purple and pink makeover on the left sneaker while the right features blues and neon greens with the lateral side integrating a drippy Puma Formstrip in a more durable TPU material. As for the upper itself, a graphic depicting the galaxy appears like a photo from the James Webb Telescope as we get a clear look at deep space and its colorful stars and galaxies.
Accenting this are more vibrant colors along the overlays found on the toe, eyestays, and tongue while a set of hot pink laces on the left pair and neon green on the right starkly contrast the branding details on the vamp and tongue. Back on the heel, an iridescent heel counter features yet another phoenix logo while the design comes rounded out by a color gradient on the Nitro foam-cushioned midsole and multi-color semi-translucent rubber outsole with cheetah print near the toe.
The Puma MB.02 Galaxy is set to release in 2023 through Puma and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $140.
