Not necessarily being a brand many consider when talking about performance basketball, Puma caught lightning in a bottle when the German sportswear brand signed LaMelo Ball and gave the Hornets star guard his own signature silhouette - the Puma MB.01. What followed was a string of sold out releases, collaborations with the animated series Rick And Morty, and plenty of wearable renditions that stood out on the court. Although the two are onto the second iteration of the model, the original MB.01 is still set to receive new colorways as seen with the upcoming Puma MB.01 “Volt.”
Keeping the monomesh upper fused with TPU overlays and embroidered details, the sneaker partakes in a monochromatic makeover of volt green across its entire upper sans the black details on branding details. The aforementioned TPU helps reinforce the structure of the sneaker around the toe, eyestays, and vamp while black hits pop from the “Not From Here,” “1 Of 1,” and phoenix logos around the tongue. Another detail that stands out is the embroidered phoenix wings located around the lateral side of the collar while the medial side receives a TPU makeover. Underfoot, a tonal volt green midsole comes cushioned with NITRO Foam and comes complete with a grippy rubber outsole in the same volt green hue.
The Puma MB.01 Volt is set to release on December 16th, 2022 through Puma and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $120.
