Pikachu, Gengar, and Charizard Join the Pokémon x adidas Collection

Thirty years ago, Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow were released to the public, spawning a franchise that now includes feature films, animated series, trading cards, video games, merchandise, and so much more. With 2026 marking the 30th birthday of Pokémon, we’ve seen various characters and Pokémon from the universe appear in collaborations from Puma to LEGO, and now adidas.
Pokémon x adidas First Look
The first three of what is expected to be many Pokémon x adidas sneakers include representations of Pikachu, Gengar, and Charizard. The most popular and well-known Pokémon, Pikachu, is found on the Pro Model. A yellow furry finish is applied to the upper, with “Pikachu” text found on a tab attached to the Three Stripes logo. Actual depictions of Pikachu are found on the lateral side of each shoe and on the tongue tag, which contains a Pokémon logo. Other details include a Pokéball lace dubrae on the right shoe, Pikachu’s tail added as a lace charm, and a Pikachu dubrae on the left.
Moving over to Gengar, the poison-type Pokémon takes over the adidas Adistar XLG 2.0, aka the Squid. Gone are the Three Stripe logos on the midfoot, and instead, Gengar’s eyes hang off the side of the lateral side, with the plastic TPU cage below rendered in a light lilac hue. More purple is used on the mesh base, but Gengar’s white smile is found on the toebox. Like the Pikachu pair, Gengar is also found on the tongue tag and on the left shoe’s lace dubrae.
Finally, Charizard blasts his way onto a pair of Superstars. Faux orange reptile skin is found on the upper, but the biggest change comes in the form of the added dragon wings on the lacing system. This covers part of the midfoot and is also rendered in the same orange leather found on the rest of the shoe. Of course, the Superstar’s shell toe remains, done in a cream white hue that contrasts the Pokéball and Charizard lace dubraes.

The first batch of Pokémon x adidas sneakers are expected to release in the coming months via adidas and select retailers online and in-store.
