The Three Stripe's struggles with collaborators like Ye and Beyonce have plagued the label (on top of outside factors) so much that 2023 is the first time in 31 years the German sportswear giant is projecting an operating loss. Even still, their roster hosts reggaeton superstar Bad Bunny and multi-hyphenate designer and artist Pharrell Williams. The latter continues to push forward with multiple releases throughout the year as Williams and adidas have crafted various colorways of the adidas Tennis Hu, this one in “Chalk Royal.”
Keeping its shape similar to Pharrell’s iconic HU NMD, the model comes in a tonal chalk white hue across most of its Primeknit upper. Along the midfoot, we see perforated details making up a semi-hidden Three Stripes logo just below the white rope lace set. Landing above these leaves is a co-branded Human Race and adidas suede patch dressed in a vibrant royal blue hue. This shade continues back onto the suede heel tab, featuring co-branded details, though it comes split between adidas and Pharrell on the right and left sneaker, respectively. Underfoot sits a tonal chalk white rubber midsole and outsole.
The Pharrell x adidas Tennis Hu Chalk Royal will be released in 2023 through adidas and select Three Stripes retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $100.
