2024 has been a big year for the Air Max 1. We've seen the silhouette pay homage to the Dutch holiday of King's Day and appear in a collaborative colorway from Serena Williams. On top of this, we got word that PHANTACi's Grand Piano colorway from 2009 would make a comeback. The Taiwan-based shop is also getting its friends and family colorway of the Grand Piano Air Max 1 to celebrate their 18th Anniversary.
The Friends & Family edition of the PHANTACi x Nike Air Max 1 Grand Piano maintains the original's eye-catching color scheme. Still, it introduces an inverted color palette on the overlays and base layer. Unlike the publicly released version, which featured patent leather, this F&F version opts for smooth leather, adding a subtle contrast in texture. The shoe's upper features a mix of stark black on the toe, midfoot panel, and heel, complemented by crisp white on the mudguard, vamp, and collar.
Pink accents remain a signature feature, now prominently displayed on the Swoosh and tongue tag—the latter adorned with special branding commemorating PHANTACi's 18th year. Exclusive touches such as a co-branded Nike and PHANTACi hangtag, a golden Nike lace dubrae, and an additional PHANTACi-branded lace dubrae further differentiate this edition. The design is completed with a black midsole and a pink rubber outsole.
Unfortunately, the PHANTACi x Nike Air Max 1 Grand Piano F&F is not slated for public release. However, the 2024 retro will be releasing on April 27, 2024, via PHANTACi followed by Nike SNKRS on May 5.
