Nike Basketball is on the cusp of another golden age with the upcoming GT Future silhouette. It’s obviously drawing from The Swoosh’s ‘90s basketball DNA, including models like the Foamposite, which have gone on to inform countless other sneakers from Beaverton. The latest Foamposite-adjacent model, the Vaporposite, comes crafted for the gridiron and is set to debut in the classic Pearl colorway later this year. Before the public can get their hands on Vaporposite, Nike hooked up the Oregon Ducks squad ahead of their Oregon State match-up on Saturday.
The silhouette combines Foamposite shell material with Nike’s Vapor Edge 360 football cleat, with this player-exclusive version applying a mummified look to the model through its color palette and added design details. Tan-shaded Foamposite and nubuck paneling are contrasted by light green painted overlays that glow-in-the-dark to match the cleated outsole. The famous Oregon Duck mascot gets mummified on the tongue tag as his skull is visible alongside tattered bandage wrapping. Final details include the black Swoosh on the midfoot surrounded by tattered mummy wrapping and Oregon logos on the pull tab.
The Oregon Ducks were able to dominate their rival in Saturday’s game, winning 41-7. The Ducks also debuted their new Shoe Duck jerseys, inspired by Nike co-founders Bill Bowerman and Phil Knight’s deep history at the University of Oregon.
Unfortunately for us, the Nike Vaporposite Mummy Duck Oregon PE is exclusive to the Ducks football squad. As mentioned above, the Vaporposite Pro Pearl is expected to hit shelves before the end of 2025, so maybe that can act as a consolation prize of sorts.
