Fashion meets football.
Virgil Abloh is certainly no stranger when it comes to soccer. Back in 2018, the late and great fashion designer teamed up with Nike for the “Football, Mon Amour” Collection that featured a selection of jerseys, goalkeeper gloves, and warm-up jackets, as well as a pair of sneakers. Fast forward four years, and Off-White will be revisiting the Beautiful Game once again by becoming AC Milan's official Style and Culture Curator, and it launches this week in London during the Rossoneri's Champions League match against Chelsea.
While rumors of this collaboration first surfaced all the way back in August, nothing was made official until two months later when the Serie A champions took to social media to unveil a selection of debut pieces, including the Off-White x AC Milan Varsity Jacket that can be seen above, and a double-breasted gray suit. The major deal will also see Off-White provide clothing for both the men's and women's teams to fall in line with the club's principles of "cultural-inclusivity and equality." In the press release, AC Milan's Chief Revenue Office said:
"This partnership is an ambitious project that involves two innovative and global brands. As a club, we have very defined principles. Cultural-inclusivity and equality is at the forefront of our business. Therefore, we are proud to embark on this journey with Off-White, with whom the Rossoneri share a common vision and a common mission. The new journey is a further testament to AC Milan’s ability to engage with younger generations through the convergence of football with other sectors."
The Off-White x AC Milan collaboration shouldn't come as too much of a surprise considering both of them are based in Milan, but we're still excited to see what they get up to. Set to debut in 2022, make sure that you keep it locked on Sole Retriever's official Twitter and the Mobile App to stay up to date on the latest happenings in sneakers, streetwear, and more.
