Nike’s latest collaboration brings Indian artistry to the global stage with NorBlack NorWhite, a creative collective known for fusing traditional South Asian techniques with contemporary style. The result is a vibrant new collection of apparel, footwear, and accessories that honors cultural heritage while inviting more women into sport and self-expression.
Founded by Mriga Kapadiya and Amrit Kumar, NorBlack NorWhite has carved out a niche by spotlighting India’s rich textile history through a modern lens. From their base in India, the duo has long championed hand-dyeing and weaving traditions, especially the ancient tie-dye technique known as bandhani.
For this collaboration, bandhani serves as the visual backbone, transforming Nike staples into expressive pieces that reflect strength, resilience, and joy. “This collection shines a light on the rigor, dedication and ancestral knowledge that’s rooted in Indian culture,” Kapadiya shared.
The capsule includes four footwear silhouettes — the Nike Air Max Craze, Motiva, Pegasus 41, and Calm slide — each decked out in rich hues and intricate patterns inspired by the bandhani technique. The apparel lineup continues the theme with a hoodie, cropped tee, tank, two bra options, matching shorts, 7/8 tights, and a cross-body bag that ties it all together. These aren’t just gym fits but cultural statements built for everyday motion.
The campaign is equally rooted in representation, featuring some of India’s rising female athletes like wrestler Anshu Malik, sprinter Priya Mohan, and cricketers Jemimah Rodrigues and Shafali Verma. “Wearing Nike that’s laced with Indian culture is a flex,” said Rodrigues. “As a woman in a sport that’s often seen through a male lens, being part of a campaign like this is my way of saying, ‘We’re not just showing up — we’re here to take over.’”
