Born in Illinois and based in NYC, Nina Chanel Abney is an African American contemporary artist and painter. She is known for exploring pop culture, gender, race, homophobia, and politics in her work. Now, Nina has crossed over into the sneaker realm, bringing her unique eye for design with her. Linking up with Jordan Brand, she puts a ladies' touch on the Air Jordan 2 Retro.
At first glance, you’ll notice that Nina Chanel Abney’s Air Jordan 2 Retro looks a bit different. That’s due to its raised height and redesigned look on the upper. The side panel and back heel are modified, with perforations surrounding the added suede toe cap. The lack of stitching and trims give off a seamless, sleek look to this white, gym red, black, and sail colorway. Another hit of suede is found on the heel, with classic Nike branding. A red Wings logo adorns the top of the tongue with Nina Chanel Abney printed on the insoles. Classic AJ 2 tooling in sail and grey with red wrapping around the back heel is finished off by a custom hang tag and packaging.
The Nina Chanel Abney x Air Jordan 2 Retro W is set to release on July 8th, 2022. It will drop at Nike as well as select Jordan Brand retailers worldwide, in-store and online.
