Various scandals from companies that were seen as trusted institutions like FTX have caused uncertainty amongst consumers and investors alike. Big brands like Nike are approaching the web3 world with a slow burn through the company RTFKT which has released a handful of NFT collections and eventually will see its own Cryptokicks IRL sneaker hit shelves in the near future. Continuing to expand into web3, Nike’s .SWOOSH platform is beginning to roll out to beta users and the inaugural project on the platform is beginning today - Our Force 1.
Helping celebrate the 40th anniversary of the iconic Nike Air Force 1, .SWOOSH is allowing the community to curate a selection of 64 iconic AF1 colorways that will be voted on in a bracket-style tournament and cover four categories - Regional, Heritage, Cultural, and Innovation. Pictured in their blog post is a wide range of previously released AF1s including the “West Indies,” “Weatherman,” and “Skeleton” colorways, though we don’t know exactly what will come out of this tournament once all is said and done. Over the next few weeks, .SWOOSH will reveal more information regarding the Our Force 1 Collection as the voting continues on the platform and through the Nike SNKRS app. An educated guess leads us to believe the winning pair will be crafted into an NFT and possibly retroed for those who hold the digital asset.
Voting for the .SWOOSH Our Force 1 Collection will open today, November 29th, 2022 at 9 AM PST over on the .SWOOSH Instagram account and via Nike SNKRS. Today’s voting will be based on Regional pairs while the following three days cover Heritage, Cultural, and Innovation respectively. Each category will consist of 16 pairs which will face off in a head-to-head matchup, with final voting set to take place in a few weeks.
