Among the silhouettes Nike has revived, the Nike Zoom Vomero 5 stands out, not just for its performance capabilities but also for its evolving design narrative. The silhouette has been a part of collaborative efforts with Doernbecher Hospital’s Freestyle program and has been released in various inline colorways that have caught the attention of sneakerheads worldwide. The model is getting a Japanese-inspired makeover with the Think Tank Tokyo colorway.
Thoughtfully reimagined through Nike's Designed by Japan series, first introduced last year on the Air Max 1, the pair departs from traditional materials. This version employs a luxe combination of smooth semi-gloss leather, suede, and tumbled synthetic leather, offering a tactile experience as premium as it looks. The aesthetic appeal of the sneaker is undeniable, with grey suede adorning the mudguard, toe, vamp, and midfoot panels, complemented by a semi-gloss leather base in a creamy hue.
The design is further enhanced by an oversized black Swoosh that extends across the midfoot, resting above a brown heel panel — a stylish reinterpretation of the Vomero 5's traditional TPU counter. Inside, wearers will find an image of Nike co-founder Bill Bowerman crafting a pair of sneakers alongside Design JP branding, adding a personal touch that connects the past with the present. The sneaker boasts a cream, white, and blue midsole equipped with Cushlon and Zoom Air technology for unparalleled comfort and support. The outsole combines brown and black hues, ensuring durability and traction, completing the design.
The Nike Zoom Vomero 5 Premium Designed by Japan W will release on May 10, 2024, through Nike, SNKRS, and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in women’s sizing, the retail price is set at $180.
