After running through as many iconic KD 6 colorways as possible, the Nike Zoom KD 5 Elite looks to be up next on the Slim Reaper’s retro redux.

KD Brings His Retro Sneaker Run Back Home

The Nike Zoom KD 5 Elite DMV Retro 2027 is the latest pair leaked from next year’s Nike drop calendar, continuing the KD retro revival with another tribute to his hometown, Prince George's County, Maryland. One of the globe’s brightest hotspots for basketball talent, the DMV has been churning out hoopers for decades, but KD is the DC metro area’s golden goose.

On the Nike Zoom KD 5 Elite DMV Retro, Durant takes inspiration from one of the DC area’s most famous culinary creations: mumbo sauce. The DC-specific wing sauce can be found at takeout joints across DC, Maryland, and Virginia, with a color halfway between ketchup and barbecue sauce. The red shade of the sauce is perfectly transferred to the KD 5 Elite, with bright green and grey accents to round it out.
