After numerous delays, the Familia x Nike SB Dunk Low First Avenue is finally set to release December 11th, 2021. Familia celebrates its community by using the collaboration to pay homage to the legendary Minneapolis night club where the artist formerly known as Prince played his first show, First Avenue.
Mirroring the exterior of the building located at 701 First Avenue, the sneaker features a black cinder block embossed leather pattern throughout the heel topped off with a embroidered silver star located on the outer heel panel signifying the more than 700 artists that have performed at the club over the years. The star theme continues throughout the sneaker with a reflective star-shape perforated toe box and stars printed underneath the tinted translucent sole. A black wear away leather toe cap that turns purple with wear and purple laces are subtle nods to Prince and his significance to both the city of Minneapolis and the nightclub. The printed insoles of the sneaker feature a purplish-pink ticket stub highlighting the date that First Avenue opened its doors, April 3, 1970. A black suede two-tone tongue with Familia stamped on the left tongue and Nike SB stamped on the right round out Nike SB's last collab of the year.
