Back when bold patterns and colors dominated the landscape, and everything seemed less homogenous than today’s simplified design language. Remember the Nintendo 64 in McDonald’s or the teal and blue color scheme of Taco Bell? Sabrina Ionescu of the New York Liberty is making efforts to recapture that feeling with a new colorway of her acclaimed Nike Sabrina 4 that encapsulates the energy of the bygone era. After a multitude of colorways for the well-received sneaker have hit the hardwood, official images of one of the earliest previewed colorways have finally arrived as the Liberty take Game 1 of the first round of the WNBA Playoffs from the number one-seeded Minnesota Lynx.
Nike Sabrina 4 90s Kid Details
The Nike Sabrina 4 90s Kid takes the maximalist view of the 1990s and implements a monochromatic makeup for an eye-catching take on the silhouette. The colorway features a breathable black and red mesh base with those hints of black forming the tiny lightning bolts on the side panels being the greatest concentration of any color outside of the fruit punch-esque coloration. Glossy candy apple red overlays accent the eyestay and toe box, while a more matte version fills up the padded toe box. A lighter, nearly pink shade graces the ankle collar, tongue, laces, the angled Swoosh on the medial side, and the Nike Flyplate in the midsole to add even more visual depth. More hints of black appear in flashes to ground the colorway, including on the Sabrina logo on the tongue, trimming the lateral Swoosh, the mini Swoosh near the lateral toe, and underfoot on the outsole.
