President Donald Trump’s tariff initiative is expected to impact industries across the United States, with many warning that the resulting cost increases would eventually be passed on to consumers. That prediction appears to be coming true, as Nike — the world’s largest sportswear brand — is reportedly set to raise its prices starting in June 2025, according to a report by Brendan Dunne of Complex.

First reported by Complex, these price changes will take effect in the new fiscal year, which begins June 1, 2025. Nike will increase prices between $2 and $10, depending on the item. Sole Retriever spoke to a source who detailed how these increases will be implemented.

Nike's Upcoming Price Changes

  • Products under $100, apparel, and AF1s - no price increase.
  • Shoes $100-$150 - $5 increase.
  • $150-up - $10 Increase.
  • Jordan Brand has not confirmed, but it should follow the same guidelines.

Where Sneaker Tariffs Stand

Tariff discussions have slowed following an agreement between China and the United States to lower the tariff rate. Before that deal, however, President Trump had announced a steep 145% tariff on imports from China into the U.S. As of now, there is a pause on tariffs from countries other than China, though most of Nike’s footwear is made in Vietnam (46% tariff), Indonesia (32%), and China (34%).

Nike, along with the 70 other brands of the FDRA (Footwear Distributors and Retailers of America), penned a letter pleading with President Donald Trump to make footwear exempt from tariff increases. Before this, adidas CEO Bjorn Gulden warned that price increases will come due to these tariffs. With Nike taking action to address the changing economic landscape, it likely won’t be long before other brands in the footwear industry raise prices as well.
