Who says coaches can’t get fly, too? The Michigan State Spartans shocked the NCAA basketball world this week with a dominant upset victory over the 12th-ranked Kentucky Wildcats, and they did it in a new pair of Nike LeBron 23 PEs made for the Champions Classic at Madison Square Garden.
Michigan State showed off the sparkling Spartan green monochrome LeBron 23 colorway on Instagram Tuesday morning before the evening’s marquee matchup. Shown floating through a blue sky in an editorial shoot, the shoe features green engineered mesh on the toebox and upper panels, with a glittering green color on the shell beneath it.
Most of the Michigan State team skipped out on wearing the LeBron 23 PE for the ranked early-season test, but longtime MSU coach Tom Izzo channeled the Chosen One energy, pairing the PE sneakers with a pair of khakis and an MSU quarter-zip. You got a favorite matcha spot on campus, coach?
The Nike LeBron 23 Michigan State PE won’t be released to the public, so don’t expect to get a pair, but we wouldn’t be surprised if MSU alum and LeBron bestie Draymond Green showed up wearing a pair, or if LeBron got his own, considering the colorway similarities to his own high school alma mater.
