The Nike Kobe 8 Protro Halo Releases August 23

Although there was controversy surrounding the relationship between Vanessa Bryant and Kobe’s estate following his tragic passing in 2020, fans of the Nike Kobe line were elated to hear that the two came to an agreement and will continue to release sneakers from his iconic signature sneaker line like the Kobe 8. So far, we’ve only seen one colorway of the Nike Kobe 6, the “Mambacita,” make its way to retail shelves and a Kobe 4 inspired by Gigi Bryant. However, 2023 will be the year we start to see Nike Kobes hit the market in a regular fashion. On top of a rare Kobe PE coming back, sneaker leak account US_11 (in a since-deleted tweet) has suggested that the Kobe 8 will return in the Fall of 2023.

Much like recent Kobe releases from Nike, the upcoming Kobe 8 retro will be available in Protro fashion - updating the tech within the sneaker to modern materials while maintaining its classic look. First released back in 2012, the Eric Avar-designed sneaker featured Lunarlon cushioning, which at the time was the pinnacle of comfort for Nike, and also came with plenty of performance basketball features like an engineered mesh upper, a midfoot shank, and grippy herringbone traction. For its reintroduction, we're getting a crisp all-white version of the silhouette. Also important to note, the new Kobe 8 Protro will also be the first time the model will be offered in full-family sizing. This aligns with Vanessa Bryant's vision of giving ALL fans of her husband Kobe a chance to rock his gear and hopefully we can see more Kobe releases be offered for the entire family to enjoy.

The Nike Kobe 8 Protro "Halo" will release on August 23, 2023, Kobe Bryant's birthday, through Nike SNKRS and select retailers online and in-store. Vanessa Bryant hinted that "this will be one of the many Kobe 8 'Halo' styles coming soon."
