Kevin Durant’s signature sneaker line has continually paid homage to his Aunt Pearl, an impactful figure in his life who passed away from breast cancer in 2000. The “Aunt Pearl” colorway has graced every Nike KD sneaker since the KD 4 and is also set to release on the Nike KD 3 this coming holiday season. The latest chapter unfolds with the Nike KD 16, Durant’s upcoming signature sneaker from Nike.
A vibrant expression of love and remembrance, the Nike KD 16 in the "Aunt Pearl" colorways comes drenched from top to bottom in various shades of pink. Its construction stays faithful to the signature design with engineered mesh, suede, and TPU on its upper. Durant’s logo graces the tongue tag, while we see Swoosh logos find a home on the lateral and medial heel. The pink theme carries onto the midsole, which flaunts a two-tone pink color scheme and concludes with a pink outsole.
Following the initial on-foot looks of the KD 16 "Aunt Pearl," another early image emerged that showcased a slightly different colorblocking. This other pair showcases bright pink hues on the overlay near the midfoot, toe, and heel. An intricate graphic is embossed here while below we see a continuation of the vibrant pink hue on the sole unit. Another notable difference includes the tongue tag featuring a rose graphic. Considering retailer imagery showcases this pair, it's likely the other iteration of the KD 16 "Aunt Pearl" is a sample pair.
The Nike KD 16 Aunt Pearl will release October 27, 2023 through Nike, the SNKRS app, and select retailers online and in-store. It will be available in men’s sizing for a retail price of $170.
