Earlier in the year, Nike introduced the world to its breakdancing sneaker, the Nike Jam, ahead of the 2024 Olympic Games. A viral moment during the breakdancing competitions may have prevented the game from returning to future Olympics. However, Nike still plans to drop more colorways for its breakdancing shoe, including an upcoming Futura collaboration. After this, we’ll receive more inline variants in the Holiday season, like the White Midnight Navy Gold and Black White iterations.
The sneaker utilized a multi-material and multi-layered retro-inspired construction. It is coated in a Panda-esque color palette of black and white, with various mesh weaves in white hues. Separating the jersey mesh from the tight mesh on the upper is a black and silver nylon strip, passing along the contoured black overlays on the midfoot. Black hues land on the mudguard, suede eyelets, and neoprene tongue, while the Swoosh on the midfoot has a white finish lined with black embroidery. Inside, the drop-in cushioned insole features Nike branding alongside the phrase “engineered to break,” nodding to the sneaker’s purpose and origins. Below the upper is a coconut milk foam midsole with a black segment on the midfoot containing an upside-down Swoosh that appears normal during headspin moves and a black rubber outsole.
The Nike Jam Black White W was released today, September 20, 2024, through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Available in women’s sizing, the retail price is set at $120.
