Ja Morant’s second signature sneaker with Nike, the Ja 2, is set to make a significant impact when it debuts later this year. Building on the success of the Ja 1, which solidified Morant as Nike’s first Gen Z signature athlete, the Ja 2 is already creating a buzz with its upcoming colorways and thematic releases. Following the anticipated Halloween edition and Stargazer iteration, Nike brings the holiday spirit to the court with a Christmas-inspired colorway.
This festive edition of the Ja 2 draws inspiration from the star-studded dunks that have become a hallmark of Morant's electrifying playstyle. A light metallic silver upper gives the shoe a frosty, wintry feel. The upper combines leather overlays on the mudguard and eyestays with a mesh base on the toe and medial side, all in the same shimmering silver hue. The sneaker's lateral side is adorned with a synthetic material embossed with intricate snowflake patterns, adding a festive touch to the design.
To contrast the silver, Nike has incorporated hits of gold throughout the sneaker. The Swoosh, tongue tag, and Christmas tree-inspired hangtag all come in vibrant gold, enhancing the holiday theme. Morant’s logo on the tongue tag has been given a tree-topper-like makeover with a golden star atop his JA logo. This playful detail ties the design together, making it perfect for the holiday season. Underfoot, the sneaker boasts a white midsole equipped with a Zoom Air unit in the forefoot for responsive cushioning. The look is completed with an icy blue rubber outsole with gold speckle details.
The Nike Ja 2 X-Mas Tree Topper will release on December 26, 2024, through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, retail is set at $130, with gradeschool sizes at $105, and preschool sizes at $90.
