Last week, Giannis Antetokounmpo took to his Instagram to show the world his latest signature sneaker with Nike, the Giannis Freak 8. While he laced up the shoes for a practice session with his fellow Bucks teammates, Giannis has been sidelined from checking in to an actual NBA game until tonight. As he makes his return from injury, Antetokounmpo will rock his eighth signature sneaker.

In addition to getting a better look at how the shows perform on court, thanks to Giannis wearing them against the Boston Celtics, Nike has also shared technical details about the Nike Giannis Freak 8. The updated upper construction features a swooping feather pattern on the heel counter, designed to mimic wings, which helps secure your foot in place. The synthetic upper also aids in this secure feeling. As for cushioning, the silhouette contains a full-length Cushlon 3.0 foam.

“I’m a father of girls, so I try to represent them as much as I can,” says Giannis. “I know they are too young to understand, but when they get older, they’ll understand that they inspired me to be better. Be a better father, a better person, a better husband, a better basketball player.” Giannis’ commitment to his daughters also translates to every young hooper. That’s why Antetokounmpo and Nike have kept the price point of the Freak 8 the same as the Freak 7, even with the upgrades made to the design.

The Nike Giannis Freak 8 will debut on August 1, 2026 via Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $115.
