Footwear brands across the industry prepare for one of the biggest holidays of the year, the Lunar New Year, and its ever-evolving Zodiac sign through a series of releases on some of their best silhouettes. So far, Nike has covered plenty of their models in colorways and materials paying homage to 2023’s “Year Of The Rabbit” and the Dunk Low has been the most utilized. Seen in three different colorways so far, and a fourth one has just appeared weeks out from the celebration.
Fuzzy chenille, suede, and smooth leather take over the silhouette with a color combo of red, orange, brown, and sail helping these aforementioned materials pop. On the toebox and quarter panel, you’ll find red suede panels while the tongue takes on this same hue with a smooth leather finish. More suede is located back on the heel in a vibrant orange hue and comes accented by brownish-purple shades on the leather heel tab and chenille Swoosh. Continuing onto the laces and chenille tongue patch with a Chinese character is this same brownish-purple while the various smooth leather overlays around the upper come in a more true brown shade. A direct nod to the rabbit comes in the form of the animal being debossed onto the lateral heel overlay, its printing on the insole, and the text “2023” that is found on the red lace dubrae. Rounding out the design is the sail Dunk midsole paired with a semi-translucent red rubber outsole.
The Nike Dunk Low Year Of The Rabbit 4 is set to release in Spring 2023 through Nike and select NSW retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is currently TBA.
