With Nike's “Move To Zero” initiative, the brand has looked at every possible way to reuse, reduce, and recycle old materials and sneakers. With many of their silhouettes coming constructed out of eco-friendly materials, a push towards reusing excess materials from the cutting room floor only makes sense. That’s where the Nike Dunk Low Scrap comes in, recently appearing in a black/navy color combo.
Its use of excess materials is evident from the patchwork construction seen on the mesh, leather, and suede upper. Around the mismatched-shaped navy mesh and black leather toebox comes a navy-colored leather mudguard with over stitching details. Just above all of this, the eyelets come dressed in a shade of navy similar to the rest of the upper, made up of multiple suede and leather patches. Housed within this is a set of black flat laces that work to the Nike branded pull-tab atop the mesh tongue. The midfoot portion continues the two-tone navy and black combo through the navy mesh and black Nike Swoosh that runs over the heel overlay to the heel tab. Rounding out the entire look is a white Dunk midsole paired with a light navy rubber outsole.
The Nike Dunk Low Scrap Navy Black is scheduled to release sometime in 2022 through Nike and select NSW retailers online and in-store. Coming in men's sizing, the retail price is set at $120.
