Even with Hispanic Heritage Month wrapping up in a few days, it seems Nike is still not done with celebrating the culture that Nike CEO, John Donahue, says “is deeply ingrained in sneaker culture.” Following up on the “We Are Familia” Pack, which included an Air Trainer 1 and AF1, “Somos Familia” is making its way to the Nike Dunk High (on top of an AF1 and Air Max 1).
Vibrant shades cover the leather, suede, and canvas upper on this Dunk High with orange hues appearing on the tumbled leather mudguard, eyestays, and heel overlay. Accenting this, the base layer comes in split black/brown design on the lateral and medial sides respectively with floral-like prints embroidered in various shades. For the tongue, the split design is thrown out the window in favor of a solid brown canvas while an orange and yellow nylon strip runs down the spine. Working along the quarter panel and back past the “Somos Familia” logo on the heel overlay is a red suede Nike Swoosh, stopping beneath the nylon pull tab on the back of the collar. Our final hit of vibrant shades comes via the sockliner and insole with the latter of the two featuring more “Somos Familia” branding details. Rounding out the design is a white Dunk midsole paired with a gum rubber outsole.
The Nike Dunk High Somos Familia is set to release in October 2022 through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men's sizing, the retail price is set at $140.
