Celebrating one of the oldest Chinatowns in the world.
San Francisco's Chinatown is said to be one of the oldest in history and one of the largest Chinese enclave outsides of Asia. Originating all the way back to the late 1840s, the neighborhood is rich is culture and heritage. To honor this important part of San Fran history, the Beaverton-based brand is releasing the special edition Nike Dunk High "San Francisco Chinatown" edition.
Working on top of a crisp summit white" leather base, desert ore and light bone suede panels wrap around the rest of the upper, while lush evergreen accents explore the sockliner and heel pull tab. Around the back, you'll find a golden mountain graphic complete with a pair of traditional Chinese clouds. This is in reference to the "Old Gold Mountain" nickname that the Chinese first gave San Francisco when they arrived by boat in the 1800s. In fact, this moniker can also be found etched onto the tongue in Chinese characters. Done up in luxe gold foil, it's wedged between a lotus flower and a Swoosh. Rounding off the Dunk is an icy blue rubber outsole underfoot that adds depth to the design.
The Nike Dunk High San Francisco Chinatown is set to release in January 2023. Expected to be available in men's sizes at Nike, the SNKRS app, and select retailers online and in-store, retail is set at $135.
