There's no doubting the fact that the Cortez is one of Nike's most iconic models. Designed by track legend Bill Bowerman, it was introduced in 1972 during the peak of the Summer Olympics. Last year marked the retro running shoe's 50th birthday, and while this momentous milestone was somewhat overshadowed by the Air Force 1's 40th anniversary, it looks like the party is only just getting started with the Nike Cortez "Midnight Navy."
Guaranteed to be a future classic, this Cortez is outfitted in midnight navy leather that's smooth and supple to the touch. A sail-hued Swoosh swings through the sides, and this is complemented by a pair of crisp white laces that tie everything together. The old school team orange logos features on the tongue tag, while additional branding is finely stitched around the back in noise aqua. All of this then sits on top of a toothy midsole which hasn't changed much in the half a century that the Cortez has been around.
The Nike Cortez Midnight Navy is set to release sometime in Summer 2023 and will be available in men's sizes for a retail price of $85.
