Nike’s Air Zoom GT Cut 2 will launch in a Bred and a Sabrina Ionescu colorway.

First launched in 2021, Nike’s Greater Than Series (often referred to as G.T.) is one of the brands newest innovations in tech for basketball-ready footwear, purposefully designed for the next generation of ball players by utilizing The Swoosh’s large range of advanced technology. The mainstay model in this series, the Nike Air Zoom GT Cut, is getting a sequel in 2022 with the help of Devin Booker and Sabrina Ionescu as Nike has officially unveiled the next model, the Nike Air Zoom GT Cut 2.

Keeping a similar shape to the original, refinements were made across the board based on player feedback and technical data that have helped shape one of the most advanced pieces of basketball footwear to date. The focal point comes via the rubber outsole’s upgraded traction pattern. Featuring a wiper-blade pattern with deep grooves, when force is applied the grooves will separate and snap back into place upon release of this pressure. According to Ross Klein, Senior Creative Director of Nike Performance Footwear, this innovation “...gives the athletes the right amount of friction on the court so they can cut faster, rotate quicker and adjust their footwork with enhanced precision.”

While this grippy and responsive traction pattern is a milestone improvement, other aspects were changed such as the shape of the heel, a carved-out midsole that helps reduce the weight of the sneaker, and the addition of a Zoom Air unit in the heel. As for the rest of the cushioning, the OG sneaker's full-length Zoom Strobel unit and React foam insole remain.

The Nike Air Zoom GT Cut 2 is set to debut via exclusive access through Nike on September 16th, 2022 in the Bred colorway with a wider release through select retailers set for September 20th. Sabrina Ionescu’s pair will come later, launching on October 13th through Nike and select retailers.
