We’ve still got two years before the Summer Olympics come back to the States and take over Los Angeles, but in the meantime, it’s the perfect season to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the last time the Games were hosted in the US, the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.

An Olympic Trainer for the Mascots

The Nike Air Trainer SC Atlanta F&F is the second pair of Atlanta Olympics-themed Air Trainer SC’s we’ve seen this month, following the retail-ready pair in purple with gold medal accents. For the follow-up, Nike designer Frank Cooke posted a friends and family colorway inspired by the 1996 Olympic mascot, Izzy, an abstract blue cartoonish character.

The Nike Air Trainer SC Atlanta F&F is a tribute to Izzy’s shoes, featuring blue laces to match the mascot’s body, but switching to a bright coat of red on the upper just like Izzy’s kicks. Beyond the mix of red suede and perforated leather, the upper adds gold accents, and the outsole pops with purple to replicate the mascot shoes. The heel ties in the Olympic theme with a multi-color wreath graphic.

The Nike Air Trainer SC Atlanta F&F Won’t Be Released

The Nike Air Trainer SC Atlanta F&F doesn’t have a release date and has only been seen in one quick image from Cooke, so don’t expect to add them to your collection anytime soon. To keep up with all the latest from Nike and the rest of the sneaker world, download the Sole Retriever App.
