Celebrating its 35th Anniversary this year, Nike has big plans for the Air Trainer line.
With the shelving of Travis Scott collabs for the time being, Nike still has plans to commemorate the storied Air Trainer model. Multiple models and colors, including an Air Trainer SC High, are set to be released in the coming year. With official images, we now have a look at the upcoming Nike Air Trainer 1 SP “Dark Smoke Grey.”
This Utility variation of the Air Trainer was first previewed in "Coriander." Coming in "Dark Smoke Grey," this pair features a more rugged aesthetic compared to the regular silhouette design. Conveying this aesthetic is a mesh underlay sitting below a variety of leathers, nubuck and fused plastic overlays. From the toe box up, a buckle strap provides lockdown support, while a mix of “Dark Smoke Grey” materials make their way up through various curves and shapes, many of which come with a 3M reflective coating. A multi-colored mesh panel is seen on the mid foot, sitting below a black canvas Nike Swoosh. Further Nike branding can be seen in the form of a mini Swoosh and Nike Air logo along the heel counter. Down on the midsole a yellowed vintage-inspired color helps make this' 80s silhouette feel original. A Smokey Grey rubber outsole rounds out the colorway.
The Nike Air Trainer 1 SP Dark Smoke Grey is expected to launch in 2022 through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Retail is set at $150 in men's sizing.
