The Nike Air Max 97 “Coconut Milk” is a muted, monochrome take on the silhouette with a mix of different premium materials running through the upper. Starting with coconut milk tumbled leather for the mudguard/bottom stripe, the rest of the upper overlays are made up of suede in a similar toned color. The underlying layered mesh comes in a beige color, as a similar shade of cream is used for the laces. Aside from the gold thread used to stitch the Nike Swoosh logo into the midfoot on the lateral side of the upper and on the tongue tag, the only other contrasting color of the shoe is black. Both the heel and tongue pull tabs are black, which also surrounds the tongue tag’s Swoosh logo. Black traction pods checker the mostly white outsole, and a metallic look on the midsole is also matched by the metallic columns in the full-length Max Air unit.
