We don't really know what's going on over at Nike HQ, but recently they've been loving a bit of shiny chrome. From the Air Force 1 Low and the Air More Uptempo, all the way to the Zoom Vomero 5, the Beaverton-based brand is currently obsessed with heavy metal. Now, after checking out a similar Dunk High SE earlier this week, we're now taking our first look at the Nike Air Max 97 "Black Chrome." One of the latest colorways to hit the Christian Tresser classic, keep reading to find out everything that we know so far.
Working on top of a 3M-infused anthracite mesh base, this Air Max 97 drops the usual leather construction in favor of black suede. From the water ripple-inspired details across the upper to the mudguard that wraps around the entire shoe, these panels have all been replaced with the buttery material. Canvas pull tabs feature on the tongue and heel for a rugged look and feel, and as you might have already noticed, metallic silver Swooshes make their way throughout for that shiny aesthetic that's all the rage over at Beaverton. All of this sits on top of a full length Max Air midsole, and is accented with light blue tones underfoot, finalizing the design.
The Nike Air Max 97 Black Chrome is set to release sometime in 2023 in men's sizes. Expected to drop at Nike, the SNKRS app, and select online and in-store retailers, they will retail for $185 each.
