Nike Air Max 95 Big Bubble Reverse Solar Red heel

Sergio Lozano’s magnum opus, the Air Max 95, continues the 30th anniversary celebration well into its 31st year. After restoring the silhouette to the designer’s original sketches with the enhanced Air units in the heel, the new Big Bubble rendition has rejuvenated the model, allowing for a deluge of colorways to be released as they were originally intended.

Last year, a flipped version of the original Neon colorway based on a sketch of Lozano’s was dropped exclusively at the MoMA in celebration of the iconic striped shoe’s 30th anniversary. Now, a reverse version of another original colorway is on the horizon with the Nike Air Max 95 Big Bubble Reverse Solar Red.

Where the original Solar Red colorway shifted from a white mesh at the eyestays to a deep black midsole, the Reverse Solar Red takes a cue from the former Reverse Neon colorway by flipping the direction of the gradient on the side panel striations. The Nike Air Max Reverse Solar Red starts with black on the mesh netting, tongue, sockliner, and toe cap. That black gradually lightens down each stripe until the pure white midsole. The namesake Solar Red accents the sneaker with flashes of red on the eyelets, the Swoosh on the lateral sides, tongue branding, and the newly enlarged Big Bubble Air units. The silhouette’s staple reflective heel counter completes the reversed look.
