More women’s exclusive colorways of the Nike Air Max 1 are headed our way in 2023.

Those who have a passion for Air Max sneakers had an incredible 2022 as the line celebrated its 35th birthday with major projects from collaborators like Concepts and a variety of OG retros hitting the release calendar. This seems to be bleeding into 2023 as we received word that A-COLD-WALL* will be crafting a pack of Air Max Plus and have plenty of GR releases that will hit the scene with the latest being the women’s exclusive Nike Air Max 1 ‘87 “Tan Lines.”
While the CAD rendering (which comes courtesy of Brendan Dunne of Complex) does showcase what the early concept of the colorway was planned to be, sources have showcased a different sample to us that slightly resembles the aforementioned photo. Suede panels appear on the overlays while the base layer comes in the model’s typical mesh and comes mixed between colorful shades of pink, purple, blue, and yellow and neutral whites/cream shades. The white mesh allows the blue vamp and pink eyestays to pop while the lace set and tongue come in a tonal pink shade and yellow hue respectively. Atop the tongue sits “Nike” branding in a vintage-like typeface while the Swoosh branding along the midfoot takes on a reddish-pink shade. Back on the heel, shaggy suede comes in purple that gets contrasted by the tan suede mudguard wrapping from heel to toe. Underfoot sits a white AM1 midsole with a slightly aged effect added to the top portion of the foam. Rounding out the look is the black rubber outsole.
The Nike Air Max 1 ‘87 Tan Lines W is set to release Fall 2023 through Nike and select NSW retailers online and in-store. Coming exclusively in women’s sizing, the retail price is set at $180.
