Every year on March 26th, Nike celebrates the birthday of the Nike Air Max 1 with the aptly-named Air Max Day event. Started in 2014, the American sportswear giant brings the community together to honor all-things Air Max. From pop-ups and parties to exclusive events, it's also a day filled with hot new releases and silhouettes. The same can certainly be said about this year's AMD, as we take our very first look at the Nike Air Max 1 '87 "Great Indoors." One of the craziest outfits that the retro model has ever been seen in, make sure you read on to find out everything that you need to know.
As unique as it gets, this Air Max 1 works on top of a sail textile construction that's decorated with an ornate floral pattern throughout. Tumbled leather panels wrap around the laterals and medials, while picante red paisley print details the heel badge. A tiger stripe Swoosh shoots through the sidewalls, while cowhide pattern takes over the mudguards, bringing together predator and prey. Elsewhere, the slick black laces are crafted from a soft velvet material, and all of this sits on top of a creamy coconut milk Air midsole that offers a vintage vibe. To round it all off, light celestine blue tones make their way to the top eyestays and rubber outsole, finalizing the wild and wonderful aesthetic.
The Nike Air Max 1 '87 Great Indoors W is set to release on March 15th, 2023. It will be a women's exclusive and retail for $150 at Nike, the SNKRS app, and select retailers globally.
