Although the “Big Bubble” variant of the Air Max 1 that was initially released in 1987 only was seen on the OG “Sport Red” colorway, Nike is bringing forth new colorways with this design. This past week, we saw first looks at the “Smokey Mauve” colorway, and now a clean “Football Grey Dark Obsidian” has just appeared.
Keeping the OG construction of the Air Max 1, the model features suede and mesh panels throughout its grey/blue design. Around the mudguard and Swoosh, we see dark obsidian suede take over, contrasting the stark white hues on the mesh toebox and collar. Overlays around the vamp, midfoot, and heel come in a football grey hue that matches the tonal laces and sockliner. Besides the Swoosh, further branding details are seen in this dark obsidian hue. Just like the original pairs of the Air Max 1, we see the size stamped onto the medial side of the sockliner in black. Rounding out the design is a white Air Max 1 sole unit with the “Big Bubble” Air unit paired with a dark obsidian rubber outsole.
The Nike Air Max 1 ‘86 OG Football Grey Dark Obsidian will be released on April 22nd, 2023, through Nike and select NSW retailers online and in-store.
