Ken Griffey Jr.’s first signature sneaker has been as popular as ever during its current retro run that started in 2021. Both old and new colorways alike have received positive fanfare, selling out just like they did when the Nike Air Griffey Max 1 was retroed for the first time, in 2009. With a couple of colorways scheduled to drop throughout 2022, here’s our first look at an all-new USA-themed pair.
Coming in white, old royal and gym red, this Nike Air Griffey Max 1 is covered in red, white, and blue. Featuring a white-based leather upper, royal blue accents the nubuck mudguard as well as the midfoot strap and velcro enclosure. Hits of red are seen on the eyestays, Swoosh logo on the tongue pull tab, plastic loop on the strap, embroidery outlining the Swoosh on the toe, and visible Max Air cushioning throughout the midsole. A white midsole with royal blue accents around the Air bubbles and a solid rubber outsole keep things clean for these Griffey’s.
