It's been twelve years since Ken Griffey Jr. announced his retirement from the game of baseball. Even more so, the last time he laced up a pair of his first signature sneaker with the Seattle Mariners. Since 2009, The Kid’s footwear line has lived on with retro releases. Next up is the Nike Air Griffey Max 1 “Aquamarine.”
Drawing inspiration from the classic Mariners alternate uniforms during Griffey’s time playing for Seattle, this pair comes in a clean light aqua, black, white and varsity red. Maintaining the overall look of the OG “Fresh Water” edition, the twist here is that the black overlays have been replaced by a light aqua tone. With black serving more as an accent color on this pair, it covers the tongue, lining, strap, Swoosh on the toe cap and outsole. White dresses the red of the sneaker while subtle hits of red adorn the branding throughout.
The Nike Air Griffey Max 1 Aquamarine is set to release in June 2022. It will drop at Nike as well as select NSW retailers in-store and online. They will be available in men’s sizes retailing for $170. Keep it locked to our Twitter and Mobile App to stay up to date on future releases.
