This Nike Air Force 1 Helps Celebrate Native Americans

Starting back in 2009, Nike started its N7 Program in an effort to provide young Native Americans and Indigenous Peoples the skills and experience needed to be a force for positive change. With countless releases helping fund the program, including a recent Nike Dunk Low N7, the Swoosh is releasing an all-new Nike Air Force 1 Low N7 honoring Native American basket weaving and nature itself.

Throwing the usual leather construction out the window, suede covers the front half while a mixture of cork and textile make up the back half. Starting at the wheat-colored perforated toe box, the overlays surrounding it come dressed in the same color palette and materials. Replacing the standard metal lace dubrae is a dark brown semi-translucent plastic dubrae, holding the wheat-colored laces at the base.

Atop the tongue sits a co-branded N7 and Nike tongue tag in what Nike dubs “Saturn Gold.” The highlight of this N7 styling is the midfoot and heel portions, coming in a cork base with blue, gold, and purple textile woven throughout, paying homage to the art of basket weaving so prevalent in Native American culture. Breaking up this pattern along the midfoot is the suede-covered Nike Swoosh that works back to the embossed heel tab with Nike Air branding. Rounding out the entire look is a cream-colored Crater Foam midsole paired to a Nike Grind rubber outsole.

The Nike Air Force 1 Low N7 2022 recently appeared on Nike.com with a release scheduled to in the coming weeks through Nike and select retailers online and instore. Retailing at $110, the Native American-inspired AF1 will come in men's sizing.
