Nike has been dropping plenty of NYC-specific heat lately, bringing Knicks and Liberty colorways to lifestyle and basketball shoes alike. Taking to the subways, sewers, and dark corners of the trash-covered city, the Rotten Apple’s latest Air Forces are a tribute to the city’s unofficial mascot: the rat.

The Nike Air Force 1 Low Black Subway Rat is the second colorway in Nike’s Sinatra-free rat pack, following an off-white pair with a pink tail and an MTA card hangtag. On the second pair, The Swoosh switches it up with a black pebbled leather base and thick brown fur on the heel, bringing a slightly scarier rodent vibe to the city streets.
