Fashion upcycling expert Nicole McLaughlin has been making waves in streetwear and sneakers for her imaginative and resourceful designs. Her creativity knows no bounds, as seen in her previous collaborations with brands including Reebok and Vans. McLaughlin's list of partners is now growing to include Merrell, a brand that shares her outdoor sensibilities, under its 1TRL division.
Paul Ruffles, brand creative strategist for Merrell 1TRL, teased the collaboration in his Instagram story. Although the we can't see the full design yet or even call out the exact model, McLaughlin's presence is spotted on two colorways of this laceless outdoor sneaker. Nicole’s “nm” logo is placed near the lateral collar above a suede panel. We also see a co-branded logo placed on the insole. As for the rest of the model, these teaser images showcase a combination of suede, mesh, and leather on the upper with plenty of perforations for breathability. One color scheme opts for an earthy color palette utilizing cream, green, tan, and black shades. The other goes more minimalist in greyscale. Underfoot, an outdoor-ready midsole and outsole complete the design.
The Nicole McLaughlin x Merrell 1TRL Collection will likely release this year or early next through Merrell and select retailers online and in-store, but neither party has confirmed a release window. As of now, sizing and pricing information has yet to be announced either.
