New Balance Mixes New Models and Classics for 6-Shoe Year of the Horse Pack

The holiday season is just getting into the swing, with New Year’s coming up next week. In China, though, the fresh calendar doesn’t hit for another couple of months, giving us all another reason to celebrate. With the Year of the Horse coming up on the Chinese Zodiac, Lunar New Year celebrations are stampeding across the footwear industry. The latest collection of stallion sneakers comes from New Balance, with a Lunar New Year collection featuring six pony-influenced pairs.

The New Balance Year of the Horse Collection features a mix of new silhouettes and classic staples, bringing out two pairs of 574s, two pairs of 204Ls, and one colorway each of the 2010 and 2000. All six shoes are designed in colorways common to horses, starting with brown and khaki monochrome on the two pairs of 574s. The 204L pairs are done in grey and white monochrome with a bit of faux horse hair added on the heel tabs.

The 2010 skips the monochrome energy for a mix of brown leather, grey mesh, and more grey on the nubuck support panels. The tongue and heel tab get a woven pattern for a bit of saddle-ready energy. The 2000 is the sleekest of the bunch, with a black synthetic upper featuring white distressing and burnt red brown accents on the branding and ABZORB midsole.

The New Balance Year of the Horse Collection will be released January 1, 2026 through atmos and New Balance in-store and online in Japan. No word on if/when the collection will hit the States. Available in unisex sizing, the retail prices are set at 15,950 Yen (approx. $102) for the 574s, 17,930 Yen (approx. $115) for the 204L pairs, 23,100 Yen (approx. $147) for the 2010, and 25,300 Yen (approx. $162) for the 2000.
