New Balance continues to awe many sneakerheads with the brand's iconic 99X series, retro models like the 550 and 650, and new iterations like the 9060, however, digging into the vault and reviving models often leads to the popularization of oft-forgotten sneakers. Not as “hype” as the aforementioned 550 and 650, the New Balance Rainer saw its revival courtesy of the Teddy Santis-helmed Aime Leon Dore and is now appearing in inline colorways - including the upcoming “Eclipse.”
The outdoor-ready boot comes covered in specific details one would find on a model prepared to tackle the environment as the suede and mesh upper come covered in Gore-Tex material. Purple suede overlays land along the mudguard, midfoot panel, vamp, eyestays, and heel while a canvas-like mesh appears on the underlay. Tonal laces match the rest of the upper while silver d-rings act as eyelets and are placed nearby the “NB” imprints on the midfoot and tongue tag. Back on the heel and sockliner you’ll find leather linings while the entire design comes rounded out by a black-on-black midsole and outsole combo.
The New Balance Rainer Eclipse is set to release on February 15th, 2023 through New Balance and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $150.
