While in the past New Balance was looked at as a brand strictly for an older generation (or DMV residents), 2022 has showcased the brand's ability to reach a younger demographic through collaborations and colorways that fit into today's fashion world. Even still, the Boston-based footwear brand is looking to tap into the more astute sneakerhead with a continuation of the “Gentlemen's Pack” that last saw a release in 2020. Now, on top of the New Balance MADE in UK 1500 and 991, 2022s Gentlemen’s Pack will also include a MADE in UK NB 730.
Across all three models sits a combination of rich suede, buttery leather, and high-quality construction while coming in a more mature color palette consisting of earth tones and cream shades. Leather overlays throughout each silhouette come in darker-tone brown hues while the heel overlays/collars (depending on the model) get an oak brown makeover. Tonal laces match these overlays while the suede panels contrast, yet accent the similarly shaded panels nearby. Cream tones are featured more prominently on the 991 while the 730 and 1500 silhouettes feature this color along with the “N” logo and the heel’s branding details. Denoting the country of construction, the tongue comes with its standard New Balance branding while featuring “Made In England” embroidery (sans the 991), however, the insole elevates this even further with its gilded “New Balance” text and calligraphy details. Rounding out the designs are white midsoles with brown details and black outsoles on the 991 while the 730 comes with a split black/white sole unit and the 1500 features a gum rubber finish.
The New Balance MADE in UK Gentlemen’s Pack is set to release via select EU retailers on December 15th, 2022 while a worldwide release, including a New Balance US drop, will take place in the coming weeks. Releasing in men’s sizing, the 991, 1500, and 730 silhouettes will retail for €229 (approx $240 USD), €249 (approx $260 USD), and €199 (approx $210 USD) respectively.
