New Balance has seen a meteoric rise in terms of attention from the sneakerhead community as the brand that was often seen as “dad shoe” makers have become popular with the younger generation. While cheaper models like the 2002R or 550 seem to be the most in-demand, the 99X line is still NB’s bread and butter, especially the high-quality MADE line. Hopping across the pond over to Flimby, the latest New Balance 991 Made In UK has appeared in a tonal green colorway.
High-quality construction and materials bless the humble running silhouette, getting covered in tonal green pigskin suede, mesh, and leather overlays throughout. Mesh panels appear in various shapes thanks to the suede overlays around the mudguard, midfoot, eyestays, and heel. Matching laces run up the tongue, though they do pass by the grey vamp, sockliner, and plastic eyelet up top. Another contrasting hit comes via the N logo on the midfoot and branding atop the tongue, piped with white leather and stitching respectively. A silver 3M heel tab brings even more branding to the upper as “991” text is embroidered in the same white thread as seen on the tongue. Underfoot, the two-tone foam midsole comes in white and sail while grey rubber and plastic overlays are placed on the heel and forefoot. Rounding out the look is the black rubber midsole.
The New Balance 991 Made In UK Green is slated to release in the EU on August 18th through New Balance and select retailers online and in-store, though a worldwide release date is up in the air at the moment. Releasing in men’s sizing, the retail price is approximately $238 USD.
