New Balance's reputation in the sneaker world is synonymous with monochrome designs and the quintessential dad shoe look. A look that is prominently displayed on their famed 99X series. Riding the wave of the greyscale design trend, the brand's upcoming New Balance 990v6 Made in USA Grey Black doesn't deviate from this course. Notably, this release follows hot on the heels of other anticipated offerings from the Made in USA series, such as the 996 and 998 White Black and a similar Grey Black theme on the 998 and 990v4.
A deviation from the typical 990v6 models, this upcoming release swaps out the breathable mesh base with an intricately woven textile layer. Perforated black nubuck dominates the toebox and select areas of the midfoot, adding depth to its design. This darker tone contrasts the soft grey pigskin suede dressing the mudguard, midfoot, and heel. Darker tones continue to make their presence felt on the collar and tongue overlays, punctuating the tongue with the signature 990v6 branding. Rounding off the design is a two-toned white and cream foam midsole, enhanced with the brand's FuelCell cushioning technology and a black rubber outsole.
The New Balance 990v6 Made in USA Grey Black will release September 28, 2023, through New Balance and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men's sizing, the retail price is set at $220.
