The distressed relic design of the New Balance 2002R is aided by a pre-worn look.
When it comes to recent New Balance GRs, the Refined Future Pack (more commonly referred to as the Protection Pack) is usually at the top of the list of favorites. Expanding from the original three releases in 2021, multiple colorways are on the horizon this year, including the upcoming New Balance 2002R Protection Pack "Worn White."
As stated by Yue Wu, the designer behind the Protection Pack silhouette, the sneaker is meant to represent a refined future through its distressed and torn-away overlays. With the worn white look, this intention is well conveyed as the sneaker's all-white premium leather, mesh, and suede construction comes pre-aged and dirty. The standard branding placements remain along the midfoot, insole, and atop the exposed foam tongue. Rounding out the look is the worn-in-looking white Abzorb cushioned midsole paired with a gum rubber outsole.
The New Balance 2002R Protection Pack Worn White is slated to release in 2022 through New Balance and select NB retailers worldwide. Coming in men's sizing, the retail price is set at $150.
