New Balance's journey through the sneaker landscape has consistently produced some of the most sought-after models. The 2002R, in particular, has become one of the most popular sneaker models in recent memory, with mesh runners taking over. Fresh off the buzz from their recently announced Protection Pack capsule, with its ripstop construction, New Balance isn't slowing down. The brand is gearing up to launch a collection designed for form and function – the New Balance 2002R Gore-Tex Pack.
This latest collection of 2002R's showcases the signature New Balance color palette in its three colorways: Grey, Navy, and White. What differentiates this pack from others is the integration of Gore-Tex coating across its suede, nubuck, and mesh uppers, ensuring weather-resistant functionality. This doesn't mean the brand has skimped on aesthetics. The pack maintains its rich suede overlays with nubuck detailing on the toe and collar, seamlessly merged with a breathable mesh base. Each sneaker proudly displays its primary color in varying shades, crafting a visual narrative of depth and dimension. The cushioned foam sole unit, borrowed from the 860v2, is the bedrock for these kicks. The Grey and Navy iterations sport a white and grey sole, while the all-white model boasts a harmoniously tonal base.
The New Balance 2002R Gore-Tex Pack will release September 22, 2023, through New Balance and select retailers online and in-store. The Navy colorway will hit shelves at a later date. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $180.
