New Balance first released the 1906 in 2009 as a more technical running shoe and was revived amid the "dad shoe” trend picking up in recent years. The more lifestyle-focused 1906R was seen recently at Paris Fashion Week through COMME des GARÇONS HOMME and Action Bronson colorways. And with the reveal of an in-house "Royal Volt" colorway, it's clear New Balance has no plans to slow down on the model.
This version of the 1906R sports a deep royal blue mesh base partially covered by metallic silver leather overlays. A black heel cage matches both the "N" logo and heel tab, but it's the sole unit that stands out most thanks to pops of volt, or electric green. The color is used sparingly at the heel and forefoot on both the midsole and outsole. Grey also breaks up the white midsole, while the rest of the outsole appears in black.
The New Balance 1906R Royal Volt will release this summer through New Balance and select retailers, both online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the sneaker will retail at $155.
