Last summer, the sneaker world stood completely still when New Balance unleashed the 2002R “Protection Pack.” Taking the retro silhouette and completely reworking it from heel to toe, Yue Wu’s iconic collection helped propel the Boston footwear company into another level of hype. Over a year later, and it looks like we could be getting even more as we take our first look at the New Balance 1906D Protection Pack "Black."
It’s no secret that NB is trying to push the 1906 silhouette, and to be very honest, we’re already falling for it. First introduced in 2010, the old school sneaker has been given a new school makeover. Working on top of a stealthy all-black mesh base, suede and leather panels wrap around the sneaker with disheveled edges, giving it that deconstructed aesthetic that we all know and love. The lacing system works in tandem with the “N” logo, while a matte TPU cage around the heel offers additional support with every step. A creamy N-ERGY midsole sits down below, and as if this sneaker wasn’t eye-catching enough, a bold red accent hits the sides for a look that will surely turn heads wherever you go.
The New Balance 1906D Protection Pack Black is no doubt at the top of our “Must Cop” lists. Scheduled to release at the end of 2022 or the start of 2023 in men’s sizes, an official retail price has yet TBA. With that said, these will be available at New Balance and a select few online and physical retailers. For more info on this colorway as well as upcoming pairs, make sure you keep it locked to our Twitter andMobile App to stay up to date on future releases.
